Genesis - Lecture 4 Shepherd's Chapel (transcript)

Genesis - Lecture 4

Say, good day to you! Welcome to the Shepherd's Chapel, welcome to this family bible study hour. Hey we're ready to get back in our Father's Word and Chapter three of the great Book of Genesis.

I want to say a word before I begin today. Many people just love labels, you know. Like this is the way so-and-so teaches, and a man teaches this way in order to be... he's probably a so-n-so... you know, this denomination or that... Hey, it doesn't matter what this person or that person teaches, how much of it or how little. What matters is what does the word of God say. And anyone that will bend from teaching God's word exactly as it's written.

[Concerning men that do teach exactly as God’s Word is written] - don't try to label them. I don't care if it is different then locally you might have been taught. Then maybe you'd better dig deeper. But what is important is to document it, know that it is God's Word, and I don't care what man says about it. Stick with God's Word and you'll always be a winner. Labels? I kind of dislike labels. I like to be a child of God that studies God's Word (period). Because there's nothing really important in this world shaping your morals and your success as God's Word will. So always stick with it and don't care a whole lot about what men say, alright.

I hope you realize I'm preparing you for a chapter that goes to some depths and many people shy away from controversy. But anyone that would call God's Word a controversy, or better yet I should say would shy away from it, is just a little bit too out there for God. He's not going to visit them. Always teach it exactly as it is written.

Okay, here we come back to Genesis chapter three. We're going to begin with verse one. Remember the creations of the sixth-day man. Remember the creation after the seventh day, that we had "eth ha Adam", the eighth-day man created; that specific one, then certain domestic animals, and then his wife. And that's where we left it. Let's pick it up now with chapter three, verse one. Let's go with it with a Word of Wisdom from our Father and much understanding. Verse one reads:

Gen 3:1 Now the serpent5175 [the serpent is Satan, the Dragon, the Devil (Rev 12:9)] was more subtle than any beast of the field [the field is the world (Mtt 13:38)] which the LORD God had made. [Yes, God even made Satan (Ez 28:13)]

H5175

נחשׁ - nâchâsh - naw-khawsh'

From H5172; a snake (from its hiss): - serpent.

H5172

נחשׁ - nâchash - naw-khash'

A primitive root; properly to hiss, that is, whisper a (magic) spell; generally to prognosticate: - X certainly, divine, enchanter, (use) X enchantment, learn by experience, X indeed, diligently observe.

He was smarter, always stewing around trying to take advantage.

And he said unto the woman,

He thought he found maybe a weak spot here. Well, would he be surprised.

Yea,

What's Satan's method of operation? He's always quoting God. That's what he did before Jesus when he tempted Him.

Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

Now that's wide open. Well don't forget God gave orders and after God states it, that becomes law. God had told them, "You can eat of except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. And naturally they did not have the opportunity to partake of the tree of life which is to say Christ. We're going to be talking about trees at quite length today. And God uses symbology often times to teach on a deeper vein than many people are able to receive. So let's hang tough.

That's what Satan asked her, that's not what God said to Eve. Let's see what the woman says. Two:

Gen 3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

Gen 3:3 But of the fruit of the tree6086 which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat398 of it, neither shall ye touch5060 it, lest ye die.

Now it becomes very important that you know what are "eat" and "touch". You really need to know what this word is because it's kind of like, as I told you in the beginning, if you don't start with the truth, like for example; if you were opening a feed sack or a flower sack, if you don't get the twine or the thread started right you're going to have it all hacked up. So you need to know exactly what God said. What God hand spoken concerning the serpent and this tree. Okay, so if we may, let's have for the moment, the word "touch" in the Hebrew tongue. And there you have it at the bottom your screen. It's "naga" in the Hebrew tongue. It's a prime-root properly...

Tree - H6086

עץ - ‛êts - ates

From H6095; a tree (from its firmness); hence wood (plural sticks): - + carpenter, gallows, helve, + pine, plank, staff, stalk, stick, stock, timber, tree, wood.

H6095

עצה - ‛âtsâh - aw-tsaw'

A primitive root; properly to fasten (or make firm), that is, to close (the eyes): - shut.

Eat - H398

אכל - 'âkal - aw-kal'

A primitive root; to eat (literally or figuratively): - X at all, burn up, consume, devour (-er, up), dine, eat (-er, up), feed (with), food, X freely, X in . . . wise (-deed, plenty), (lay) meat, X quite.

Touch - H5060

נגע - nâga‛ - naw-gah'

A primitive root; properly to touch, that is, lay the hand upon (for any purpose; euphemistically, to lie with a woman); by implication to reach (figuratively to arrive, acquire); violently, to strike (punish, defeat, destroy, etc.): - beat, (X be able to) bring (down), cast, come (nigh), draw near (nigh), get up, happen, join, near, plague, reach (up), smite, strike, touch.

That will do it. Then what is a euphemism? A euphemism is where someone uses the word touch to be a nicer word than they chose to translate "to lie with a woman". In other words it was nicer it seemed to say "touch" rather than "intercourse". For that's what it means. Now many might say, [gasping] - “Oh dear Lord, did you hear what he said?" I didn't say it. God said it. That's what the word means in the Hebrew tongue. And if you're too good for God's Word then you really a goodie-goodie two shoes aren't you? You need to stick with God's Word so that you understand God's Word.

So what God had said… I think the implication is sufficient enough that it will clear itself up. Now don't get away from me now. This is a little heavy for some; you put it on the shelf. But it is God's Word. And I give you and tell How to acquire the tools. If I say "naga" means a certain thing in the Hebrew, you can check it out yourself in a Strong's Concordance or a good Hebrew dictionary. It's not that big a push for an English reader. Verse four:

Gen 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

Well now here he lies. "Ye shall not surely die". God had already told them you will [die]. So who are you going to believe? Now basically this is what life comes down to. You make your own bed. It wasn't God that brought death into the world. Well, could we say it was Eve? Well, no. It was Satan. But by Eve not being obedient to God as well as Adam, [they] did bring death to the world through Satan; Satan of course being [death].

Now, we have covered this here, this verse four, and we see here, what does it mean? How can we understand then "touch"? Can we verify that just a little bit more; what it's talking about? Well we certainly can. Let's go to 2nd Corinthians. Just hold your place there. We're going to make a little side trip here over to the 2nd Book of Corinthians in the New Testament. You've got it. And we're gong to go to chapter eleven. Let's understand this word "touch" just a little bit more, alright. Let's go with it, let's pick it up if we may in verse two of 2nd Corinthians, Paul teaching:

2Co 11:2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you

That's "engaged" you…

to one husband,

That would be Christ of course...

that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.

That is to say that you won't be deceived, you won't be beguiled, but that... the subject is a loss of virginity here. In a spiritual sense here, you bet. Listen to it carefully. Verse three:

2Co 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled1818 Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

Now it's very important that you know... What is this word "beguiled"? It is the exapataō in the Greek. And it comes from G1537 G1538 and it has one meaning only "to seduce wholly", completely. It doesn't have any other meaning.

Beguiled - G1818

ἐξαπατάω - exapataō - ex-ap-at-ah'-o

From G1537 and G1538; to seduce wholly: - beguile, deceive.

Let it be settled in your mind. Verified even in the New Testament as to what we are talking about in the garden from the Hebrew word, "naga" as well as the beguiling of Eve. Now if we were to continue on in this eleventh chapter we would find, let it be know marvel for in end times Satan himself will come, the English word "transformed" in verse fourteen, but it's "disguised".

2Co 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed3345 into an angel of light.

Transformed - G3345

Μετασχηματίζω - metaschēmatizō - met-askh-ay-mat-id'-zo

From G3326 and a derivative of G4976; to transfigure or disguise; figuratively to apply (by accommodation): - transfer, transform (self).

G4976

σχῆμα - schēma - skhay'-mah

From the alternate of G2192; a figure (as a mode or circumstance), that is, (by implication) external condition: - fashion.

Satan's subtle. He's always disguising himself. So it is in the Greek. So a person, many might say, "Well that's certainly spiritual." No it isn't. It is using an actual event so that that is spiritual for you can be brought to pass before the spurious Messiah …

spu·ri·ous [spyoor-ee-uhs]1.not genuine, authentic, or true; not from the claimed, pretended, or proper source; counterfeit.

without being seduced by him spiritually whereby you are not deceived. And certainly we'll go a little deeper into this when we come to the sixth chapter of Genesis concerning the event. Okay, so having said that let's go back to the Book of Genesis, chapter three. Let it flow. It is God's word and that's what you need to know. Verse five reads:

Gen 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof,

Satan continues speaking...

then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

In other words, you will find enlightenment. Now let's hold on just a minute. Satan is really… you know never trust Satan, number one. What does it mean? “You'll be like us, the angelic beings, you will know good from evil”. At this time Eve is created innocent. But I don't want you to forget the comment that you're eyes shall be opened and I'll document for you that certainly rather than an opening what is about to transpire brings about a closing. I want to call up the word "tree" as it is used of eating all of the fruit of the garden.

Okay, let's call up the word tree as it is utilized there. And it will be the Hebrew word H6086. Do we have that on the monitor at this time? The Hebrew word, H6086... or which ever Hebrew word you have there will be fine [said with sarcasm]. Is it another verse down? If I can I'm going to hesitate just a moment if the director can tell the camera person... Have we got our verses crossed or what? It's coming up? Okay we'll have it hear in just a second. I'll continue talking until we get here.

You need to know how God uses the word tree. It's very important. God uses symbology, where as with symbology, He is able to say more than is written and also to protect tender ears from that that He would say. Certainly we find that, as I will document here in a moment, that it is not unusual for ourselves to address "tree" as our own bodies, our own personage. God even called Satan a tree in Ezekiel, chapter thirty-two [correction: chapter 31] when He [God] was talking to Pharaoh and instead of calling Satan a Cedar of Lebanon which is the tree that is symbolic of our people, He called him a "Te’ashur" which in the Hebrew tongue means a plain old box Cedar.

Notes from Companion Bible: See Ezekiel, chapter 31

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

You try to be something real special but all you are is an old box Cedar. So it's not unusual for God to refer to men as trees. Now here is the word utilized in the Hebrew tongue, "ets" and it comes from H6095 in the Hebrew dictionary:

H6086

עץ - ‛êts - ates

From H6095; a tree (from its firmness); hence wood (plural sticks): - + carpenter, gallows, helve, + pine, plank, staff, stalk, stick, stock, timber, tree, wood.

Now let's go to that H6095 if we may and we'll have it there following that, that the word for tree comes from, it's prime, whereby we can recognize it. Again I stated it's coming along. And please have H6096 ready for me after that. That God utilizing trees, calling Satan a tree, we're going to take this to the fact that... what do you call your arms? Do you not call them limbs? And what about the torso of the body? What is it called? The trunk of course. So there's nothing new under the sun. And it is not unusual at all for a person to use even God's vein, His thought that is to say, in the vein in which He would think that He utilizes trees.

Now the tree we just covered that is good and bad, an oak tree knows enough that when the first frost hits it sheds its leaves and they fall to the ground. It knows the sap has got to go down or it will freeze up and so-forth. But a tree that has knowledge of good and evil we need to go a little deeper. So here we have the word, the prime, from which the word "ets" come from. And you will notice it is:

H6095

עצה - ‛âtsâh - aw-tsaw'

A primitive root; properly to fasten (or make firm),

And this is what I want you to get from it...

that is, to close (the eyes): - shut.

What did Satan say? Surely your eyes will be opened. So he lied again. Now let's go on if we may to H6096 from the Hebrew language. And we find here note it’s also from H6095 so that you get the full picture here.

H6096

עצה - ‛âtseh - aw-tseh'

From H6095; the spine (as giving firmness to the body): - back bone.

So we're talking about the back bone of the body. So here we can pretty well begin to understand why Satan would lie when the prime from the word atsah is to close the eyes, Satan says, "Surely they will be open". What it means is it will close your spiritual eyes and open your eyes of the world and that that it demands and so-forth. But know and understand that it is not an unusual term for us to say this is the trunk of my body. Or, what about your family? Many of you are proud of them and some of us, we have maybe one or two that we would like to break a certain limb off [said with humor]... It's called a family tree. It's not unusual at all. Now let's go on if we may for Genesis three, six. That sixth verse, alright. And that sixth verse reads:

Gen 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes,

Now picture what's happening...

and a tree to be desired to make one wise,

Ah ha...

she took of the fruit4480, 6529 thereof, and did eat,398 and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

Fruit - H4480

מנּי מנּי מן - min minnîy minnêy - min, min-nee', min-nay'

For H4482; properly a part of; hence (propositionally), from or out of in many senses: - above, after, among, at, because of, by (reason of), from (among), in, X neither, X nor, (out) of, over, since, X then, through, X whether, with.

Fruit - H6529

פּרי - perîy - per-ee'

From H6509; fruit (literally or figuratively): - bough, ([first-]) fruit ([-ful]), reward.

Eat - H6509

פּרה - pârâh - paw-raw'

A primitive root; to bear fruit (literally or figuratively): - bear, bring forth (fruit), (be, cause to be, make) fruitful, grow, increase.

Now there’s one thing I want to make very clear; that they both partook of the same fruit. She simply indicated it to her husband and directed him to it. Now again, is it unusual for God to mention men as trees? No. I really want to nail this one down. Go with me to Isaiah, chapter 61, and let’s pick it up in the third verse of that Isaiah, chapter 61. And it reads:

Isa 61:3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion,

That means, because the antichrist has taken over…

to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees

That they might be called WHAT?

they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

Now God planted trees but it seems that Satan would have a little habit of planting trees also. I find it interesting that even in this same chapter in verse 21 of 59 [correction, 60] that it reads, now you won’t have it but I want to read it to you:

Isa 60:21 Thy people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land forever, the branch of my planting,

In other words, a branch of a tree… Christ, Himself, was even called “The Branch”. So again, think not just because the subject is trees… Now, I have a question for you. Some might say, “Well this is just a little bit steep if we’re talking about what I think he’s talking about, conception and people not retaining their virginity for the coming of Christ… This is really kind of heavy.” Well, that’s what God’s Word states. Now let me ask you a question. Have you observed as of yet the word apple? And I guarantee you, as a student of the Hebrew, “apple” is not mentioned in the manuscripts either. No way could you translate any tree that has been mentioned thus far as “apple”.

So I wonder how many of you can remember back in [your Sunday school]… “Oh yes, dear children, Eve ate an apple off of an apple tree.” Lie! It’s not there. You’re lying to the children. Now which is better in God’s eyes? That you teach truth or that you lie to little children and give them a warped view of what happened in the garden that they have to maintain most usually for the rest of their lives? Trust me, I have grown, adult people that will write after a teaching such as this and say, “Well I know the word apple is in there, just where is it?” I mean they can not shake off that that was… You know a little child trusts the adults and the elders of a church. And it’s very difficult to remove lies and false teachings from their minds after they’re implanted there by people they trust. Well, we’re just making points and winning friends and influencing people here… I’m not saying this to insult anyone, but to shame you if that’s what you’re teaching contrary to the Word of God. I assure you the serpent would love that also; the picture of the apple and so-forth when the whole thing is a lie.

Okay, so now we get back to Genesis here. We’re going to pick it up with verse seven:

Gen 3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened,

…opened to the ways of the world and sin.

and they knew that they were naked;

Uh oh! The old back bone with the central nervous system running through it has already past the little message up to the brain. That’s where the knowledge of the good and evil is. That’s why the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was Satan himself.

and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons 2290.

Aprons - H2290

חגרה חגורה חגר חגור - chăgôr chăgôr chăgôrâh chăgôrâh - (1,2) khag-ore', (3,4) khag-o-raw'

From H2296; a belt (for the waist): - apron, armour, gird (-le).

Now I can’t help saying it, “aprons”, and the word in the Hebrew for “aprons” is to gird themselves. “Oh now honey, no honey, they ate an apple so they made a little mask to put over their little mouthy here, you see that? Yes, little fig tree, you know, and just put the little fig leaf right around their mouth”. No! They made aprons to cover their private parts because of what they had just done. Now let’s not lie to children regarding God’s Word. It makes God very angry. And I’ll tell you something, Jesus told you in Matthew 24 and Mark 13, not maybe you should learn the Parable of the Fig Tree, but to learn it! And this is the very “rock” foundation of the Parable of the Fig Tree. If you don’t understand this, you’re not going to understand any other of Christ’s parables as it’s written in Mark, chapter 4, of this thing. And it’s the reason that God speaks through Christ in parables to those that have eyes to see and ears to hear. They made aprons. They girded themselves. They covered their nakedness. Verse eight:

Gen 3:8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

Why? They sinned, they disobeyed. Nine:

Gen 3:9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

Gen 3:10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

Gen 3:11 And he said,

God [speaking]…

Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

Well, naturally he [Adam] had. Because the evilness that Satan shared with he and the woman both made them ashamed. Verse twelve:

Gen 3:12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.

“It’s all her fault!” Old Adam trying to, bless his hide, trying to pass it off and blame it on the woman when he was supposed to be the one that would have kept it from happening in the first place. Understand… Thirteen:

Gen 3:13 And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.

I don’t have to tell you what happened there. You can tell by the outcome of it. Listen to God. He’ll explain it to you that might have difficulty. Fourteen:

Gen 3:14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent,

You know who the serpent is, that old devil, the dragon, Satan… fourteen:

And the LORD God said unto the serpent Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly1 shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

In other words that is a statement of degradation. That Satan could never again rise to a point of salvation or anything else. Verse fifteen:

Gen 3:15 And I…

How sharp are you? Can you listen to God’s word without thinking of labels or what you’ve heard in the past and let God just speak? Let’s do that.

I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed2233 [Satan’s seed] and her seed;2233 [Eve’s seed]

Do you know what we’re talking about? Children, that’s what the seed of man is, okay.

Seed - H2233

זרע - zera‛ - zeh'-rah

From H2232; seed; figuratively fruit, plant, sowing time, posterity: - X carnally, child, fruitful, seed (-time), sowing-time.

H2232

זרע - zâra‛ - zaw-rah'

A primitive root; to sow; figuratively to disseminate, plant, fructify: - bear, conceive seed, set with, sow (-er), yield.

it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

This is the first prophecy. Satan knew that it would be from this woman that Christ would come. And God is saying, “Because you tried to destroy that, I will put enmity between thy seed and the woman’s seed”, meaning, Christ’s heels were nailed and pierced, but Christ ultimately will crush the head of the serpent. And so it is. “Well how can we be sure that Jesus would teach something like that?” Well, how about reading it?

Let’s go to the thirteenth chapter of Matthew, real quickly here. The thirteenth chapter of Matthew and you’ll find that Jesus did teach that the serpent had “seed” or children here on earth; even though you’ve got a bunch of these wackos, biblically illiterate, so called “teachers” that would run around and tell you otherwise. Here it is for yourself in the good Old New Testament, the words of Christ. And this has to do with the Parable of the Tares and the Sower. And this is the parable that Christ said if you don’t understand this one you can’t understand the rest. And it’s true. Verse thirty-seven reads… when the disciples asked Him, “Why are talking in parables, and what is this parable of the sower in the garden? Verse thirty-seven:

Mat 13:37 He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;

That is to say the Word of God was with God when the Spirit moved and created the various races on the earth. The good… thirty-eight:

Mat 13:38 The field is the world;

So you don’t have any doubts now, He’ not talking in a parable He’s explaining one.

the good seed4690 are the children of the kingdom; but the tares2215 are the children

That from the conception, and do you know how children get here? From conception…

of the wicked one;

Seed - G4690

Σπέρμαsperma - sper'-mah

From G4687; somethng sown, that is, seed (including the male “sperm”); by implication offspring; specifically a remnant (figuratively as if kept over for planting): - issue, seed.

Tares - G2215

Ζιζάνιονzizanion - dziz-an'-ee-on

Of uncertain origin; darnel or false grain: - tares.

Thirty-nine:

Mat 13:39 The enemy that sowed them

“Ooh, here we’re gonna find out! We’re really going to be able to find out what really happened!” [said with sarcasm]

The enemy that sowed them is the devil;

The tree of the knowledge of good and evil, the serpent, that old dragon, and you can find all of his names listed in Revelation, chapter 20 in one clause/string.

the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.

Yes it shall come to pass. Yes Christ taught about the children of the serpent. Yes He did. And I make no apologies for it nor should you have any desire to want to. Else again, you wouldn’t be able to understand any of the parables of our Father. Okay, let’s return if we may to sixteenth verse of the third chapter of Genesis. I think that pretty well clears it up, does it not? We’re talking about what happened in the garden and why they used fig leaves or an apron rather than a mask?

Gen 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception;

What had happened? Conception. Do I need to define conception? I think not.

in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

Gen 3:17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife,

Rather than listening to God…

and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee,

That’s where he sinned. It wasn’t listening to his wife it was not listening to God, okay.

I commanded thee saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;

And man has had to grub out a living ever since. Eighteen:

Gen 3:18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;

Exactly as it’s written it has always been. There’s nothing new under the sun. And if you don’t understand what happened in the beginning you’re not going to understand the end. Verse nineteen:

Gen 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

And so it is. Many people dream of these old bodies raising up and all that. No, they go to dust. You raise in a spiritual body. Twenty:

Gen 3:20 And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.

Only because it would be Christ that would come through her womb and you either have Christ or you’re not going to have eternal life. That’s what it has reference to. That is to say, for all of God’s children, for all races. Verse twenty-one:

Gen 3:21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

There was blood shed because of that sin and the skins taken to make clothing. Twenty-two:

Gen 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take3947

I will caution you to note the word is not “touch” here, or even in the English, and certainly not “naga” in the Hebrew.

Take - H3947

לקח - lâqach - law-kakh'

A primitive root; to take (in the widest variety of applications): - accept, bring, buy, carry away, drawn, fetch, get, infold, X many, mingle, place, receive (-ing), reserve, seize, send for, take (away, -ing, up), use, win.

take3947 also of the tree of life,

Which is to say, Jesus Christ, himself…

and eat, and live forever:

That means to partake of the Word of Salvation at that time and live forever before having earned the right to deserve salvation. Verse twenty-three:

Gen 3:23 Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.

Gen 3:24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way,

All directions…

to keep the way of the tree of life.

Do you know what way that is? It’s the same way that Christ said, “I Am the Way. I Am the Way to the truth and the resurrection.” Do you want to have eternal life? Then don’t lie about God’s Word. Teach it as it is written on a level that all people may understand; gently, firmly and certainly it is a part that you want a mature child’s mind. There’s nothing wrong with teaching a child the truth. Quite frankly, there’s no way they can understand the rest of God’s Word without understanding how it was in the beginning or to know what that parable meant, the parable of the sower. And Christ explains it in such a way that any child can understand it. Then they can begin to understand the controversy and the war that we have between Satan and the seed of the woman. That is to say Christ and the children of God, that try to follow God. There will yet be one more time that Satan will take an opportunity to destroy that woman through which Christ would come. We’ll find it in the sixth chapter of this great book.

I make no apology for God’s Word. It is very easy for you to check out the Hebrew by the materials that I have submitted to you, even drawing you a picture and showing you the Hebrew and in one case the Greek in this particular lecture and exactly what it means being fully translated rather than transliterated. God’s word is true, it’s simple, it’s wholesome, and it’s good. You never have to make any apologies for God’s Word. It brings about clarity, understanding, and a happy life, most of all, and along with it peace of mind and eternal life. Never apologize for God’s Word to any man.

It is written and it shall come to pass exactly as it is written. The first prophecy concerning what would happen to Satan’s head was listed in that sixteenth verse, fifteenth and sixteenth verse of that Book of Genesis. That hasn’t even happened yet but it’s going to. So some of what you were studying today is prophesy -yet for another day. Don’t miss any of these lectures especially in the first six chapters of Genesis. They are very important and again, I make no apologies for God’s Word and neither should you. Alright bless your hearts, you listen a moment won’t you please.

Genesis - Lecture 3, Pastor Arnold Murray

Genesis - Lecture 3

Say, good day to you, God bless you, welcome to the Shepherd's Chapel, welcome to this family bible study hour. Hey, we're ready to get back into our Fathers Word, the Book of Genesis.

Ba rê'shîyth - ba-ray-sheeth' in the Hebrew tongue meaning “In the Beginning”. We have covered that 1st chapter, and isn’t it strange? We found out that there was an earth age before this one. That explains why that many things will carbon date into the millions of years and it’s explained right in God’s Word if we just take the time to cover it.

We had passed the sixth day and we’re going to open in chapter two; we’ll be on the 7th day. God has already created male and female in the image of God and the 'ĕlôhîym - el-o-heem' which is to say, God and his children, the angels. What He’s saying is, let’s make them look just like we look, here [in the spiritual dimension]. Okay, and then naturally, everyone had to pass through this earth-age one time - one time only.

So with that having been said, chapter two, verse one, and let’s go with it:

Gen 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.

Now I want you to think on that a moment. Meditate on it. Let it sink in. The heaven was finished, and the earth was finished, and the host of them. What does “host” mean? Let’s pull it up from the manuscripts; and it’s:

H6635

צבאה צבא - tsâbâ' tsebâ'âh - tsaw-baw', tseb-aw-aw'

From H6633; a mass of persons (or figurative things), especially regularly organized for war (an army); by implication a campaign, literally or figuratively (specifically hardship, worship): - appointed time, (+) army, (+) battle, company, host, service, soldiers, waiting upon, war (-fare).

It’s actually feminine, believe it or not. That should make you ladies real happy there. And it’s “tsawba”… it comes from H6633

H6633

צבא - tsâbâ - tsaw-baw'

A primitive root; to mass (an army or servants): - assemble, fight, perform, muster, wait upon, war.

And what it is, it’s a family. It’s the family of God. And that will do it. We can pass with that. What does that mean? Well stop and think. The heaven was finished, the earth was finished, and the people were finished. That is to say the souls ready for this earth-age.

Now God had created the animals, fish, birds, and then He created man. Then He would rest. He looked and it was good; it was really good. So with that thought in mind let’s go on with verse two… Why did I cover that first verse [In depth]? Many people ask me, “Why do you say all souls were created at one time?” They were all finished and all the host of them. That’s all the people in either one of them. Verse two:

Gen 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

Now I leave it to you (the 7th day). What is a day with God? We covered it in the first lecture of this book, Peter would say in second Peter, chapter 3; I would not have you ignorant of the fact that one day with God is a thousand years with man. So actually, He [God] would have rested one of God’s days, a millennium. Alright, verse three:

Gen 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it:

He set it aside…

because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

He was pleased with it. Now I want for the sake only of the higher critic, to say I know we’re going from P-to-J here. You don’t have to remind me, I’m well aware of it, I’m very familiar with the manuscripts, and the less said about it the better. Verse four:

Gen 2:4 These are the generations8435 of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,

This word “generations” would better be translated “history” because we’re talking about heaven and earth and not entities.

H8435

תּלדה תּולדה - tôledâh tôledâh - to-led-aw', to-led-aw'

From H3205; (plural only) descent, that is, family; (figuratively) history: - birth, generations.

So this is the history of the earth. Meaning, back to Genesis verse one and two “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (period). The earth became void and without form. So He’s saying this is the history not only of this earth-age [the flesh-age] but the age from before [the first earth-age], beginning back with chapter one. I just prefer that you do not overlook that. Verse five:

Gen 2:5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth,

What would that be then? Seed, that which reproduces itself from seeds; that would be a sprout of course.

and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and [there was] not a man to till the ground.

That means to farm it.

Now here’s where we want to be very careful. We have men and women that God created on the same day (on the sixth day). That is to say, He created both male and female at the same time. He let them have liberties to harvest the wild game, the crops and so-forth, that are wild. But never did He give one of those, that is to say one of the races [6th day man] the duties of farming (tilling the ground; to be a husbandman of the soil). Alright, I want to make that real clear. Now stay with me on this, verse six:

Gen 2:6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.

Consider this the dew, but bear in mind, until the flood of Noah we will still have a firmament overhead. Just bear that in mind. You may wonder, “Where did all that water come from?” Verse seven is very important. I want your full attention. We’re going to take a little lesson in Hebrew grammar here, alright:

Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed

Not created… formed

man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Now there’s something quite different about this man, from the man mentioned in the twenty-seventh verse of the previous chapter. It would probably serve you well if you wrote these down. You with Companion Bibles, you don’t have to. Your appendix 14 will already have it recorded there for you. Adam, without the article, as it is utilized in verse twenty-seven of chapter one means man or mankind. There’s not even any gender involved in it. As a matter of fact, many times from the manuscripts “adam” is translated “man”, when the word in the Hebrew is 'âdâm, without the article :

H120

אדם - 'âdâm - aw-dawm'

From H119; ruddy, that is, a human being (an individual or the species, mankind, etc.): - X another, + hypocrite, + common sort, X low, man (mean, of low degree), person.

H119
אדם
'âdam
aw-dam'
To show blood (in the face), that is, flush or turn rosy: - be (dyed, made) red (ruddy).

Now here, in this particular verse, verse seven, this “man” has the article, “ha” Adam. And with the article it denotes “the man Adam” to till the soil.

Now I think you should make a note of that. I’m going to repeat it one more time. “adam” without the article, “ha”, which in English is translated “the” okay, “ha”. Without the article it denotes a human or mankind. It [adam or mankind] doesn’t mean the adam [a specific man named Adam] which Christ would say that He [Christ] was the “Son of Adam”, or be called the “Son of Adam”. Because it would be this Adam, ha-'âdâm, [this specific man named “Adam”] through which Christ would come, not the man [adam or mankind] created without the article in verse twenty-seven of chapter one.

I really know of no one else that teaches this publicly. I’m going to say publicly because it is taught, but not publicly, at least not to my knowledge by anyone else. I make no apologies for teaching it even though I have had a particular rabbi call me and said, “You’re correct but you’re going to be criticized for even throwing racial overtones into this.” Hey, I teach God’s Word, I make no apology for teaching it as it is written. For that is the way God wanted it taught and if I suffer fallout from it, hey, it doesn’t bother me. At least I will have known that I taught the truth. Now there is more.

I will even go further to say that even the Companion Bible between chapter one and two will disagree with what I’m saying in part. That’s okay. I tell you it’s still the best study bible you will ever touch with your hands, alright, for you, a layperson today –or most pastors if you can understand it. I speak of the Companion Bible.

Now I want to take this one step further. Again, I hope you’ve written down Adam without the article denotes man or mankind in general. Number two, (with the article) Adam with the article denotes the man Adam. Now we have something here more specific that that. We have “Adam” not only with the article, but with the particle, “eth”. When we have the addition of the word “eth”, the particle, it’s very emphatic.

Bullinger's Appendix 14: With the particle ha ('eth) in addition to the article it is very emphatic, and means self, very, this same, this very. See Gen. 2:7 (first occurrence), 8, 15.

I can not express that enough. With the particle, the article, and “Adam”, it is, I could say, super-emphatic that we’re talking about THE MAN Adam – this one. The same one that is set aside here because of the particle and the article… what do we have? Let’s simplify it in case I am confusing some with particle/article and the “Adam”.

The particle is E-T-H, “eth”. The article is H-A, “ha”, which is word “the”. “Eth” is always emphatic whether it is talking about Israel, The Church, the family, or whatever. That’s grammar from the Hebrew tongue. So many of you have difficulty separating the “man” from verse twenty-seven of chapter one from the “man” in verse seven of chapter two. I hope you won’t have that difficulty again.

For you that have not caught all of it I’m going one more time. In verse seven we have “eth ha Adam” which is emphatically “the tiller of the ground”, “the man”, which Christ would be called “The Son of Adam (adam translated means Man)”. Christ would even be called “The Second Adam”. That comes to mind from I Corinthians, chapter fifteen.

One more time through it: Adam. First, what does the word “adam” mean in the Hebrew tongue? It means ruddy complected (ruddy complected, see H120 & H119 above), alright. The other races were created on the sixth day, and there was a ruddy complected man formed on that day (6th day) as well. I’m not going past that detail, but back to the particle and the article. Adam without the article denotes man or mankind, a human being. When you’re reading along and it says, “And God saw man on the earth” it means it was mankind. But as it is used in seven, Adam with the article denotes “the man Adam”. Now God even goes further than that so that you get the distinction in verse seven that He places the particle “eth” before the article “eth ha Adam” which makes it very emphatic so that you would not go wrong. So never let it be said that at least it has not been taught to you what makes the difference between the man to till the soil and the man that would hunt, fish… even though I know a few of those that like to till the soil that also like to hunt and fish, but he [tiller of the ground] has other work to do as well.

He [God] chose this specific man, because through this genealogy of Adam, would come Christ. That’s important, because that would bring forth the Savior and round-out God’s overall plan. Okay I hope you’ve got that. Verse eight, let’s continue on:

Gen 2:8 And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

Not created, formed. Nine:

Gen 2:9And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Now I’m going to save a good education for you on trees, from the Hebrew tongue, until the next lecture; but let me just say this in passing. The good trees that are for food are the trees you still partake of. Nothing is new under the sun; we still have them with us today, fruit trees. But the tree of life is a different subject. The tree of the knowledge of good and evil is a different “type”, let’s put it that way. The tree of life, the tree that gives life, is Jesus Christ. The tree of the knowledge of both good, I mean Satan knows how to be good, he was created good but he is evil. That tree happens to be Satan. Now in the next lecture we’ll document all that from the Word of God but I want the point made of the emphatic design of God and that He wants you to recognize this “man”, alright.

So he gives him… when God makes a statement like this it is law. Understand that. Verse ten:

Gen 2:10 And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.

Verse eleven, I’ll read over these rather rapidly:

Gen 2:11 The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth

Circles…

the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;

Gen 2:12 And the gold of that land [is] good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone.

Gen 2:13And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia.

Now if we were to go by the geographical locations that we know Ethiopia is today, then you can pretty well begin to fix some of these rivers that could have been, I repeat could have been a part of the area, the next verse will nail it. Verse fourteen:

Gen 2:14 And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that [is] it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates.

This is why that many people feel that Tigres where the Tigres and Euphrates and the others run together there, that that was the geographical location of the Garden of Eden. Well, was it? Well God has a way after the flood of Noah of changing things, so… It would certainly indicate so, okay. Fifteen:

Gen 2:15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

Now I want you to note that… many of you that have the Green’s Interlinear, you will have one of the best sets of Hebrew manuscripts that are available today. I’ll even go further than that, the best. You will be able to follow whether… In English it’s rather difficult, but it [the King James Bible] even brings it through; “the man”, that’s “ha Adam”. Okay, check it out. It will make you feel real good. It has the article. That’s the one he put in the garden in other words. The word “man” being “Adam (a very particular man – named Adam)”. Verse sixteen:

Gen 2:16And the LORD God commanded the man,

That’s to say, “ha Adam”…

saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

Feed yourself. We still do to this day. Seventeen:

Gen 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil,

This is twice for emphasis…

thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Now, did Adam die in the day that he ate of the tree? No he didn’t. Did Eve die in the day that she ate of the tree? Well, not instantly. But don’t forget how long a day is with God, that’s why no one ever lived over a thousand years, that’s one day. And after the fall, no one passed that mark. Verse eighteen:

Gen 2:18 And the LORD God said, [It is] not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

Now wait a minute, whoa - whoa… Here we’ve got Adam in the garden and God created male and female back in this other place [sixth day creation], so let that [fact] again let you know we’re talking about two different peoples here. And God does not differentiate between them. He’s not talking classes here. That’s one reason I don’t want you to ever tag “racist” onto this. It rather, protects the races, whereby they can understand our loving Father and that He created us as we are. And, as at the closing chapter, He looked and it was good. But we have one man here that doesn’t have a female, alright. It’s “ha Adam”. God created them [6 day creation] male and female in verse twenty-seven of the prior chapter simultaneously. They were both [male & female] created at the same time. I’ll read it for you:

Gen 1:27 So God created man in his own image,

In the image to look like them [to make us in the flesh to look like we did in our spiritual bodies]

in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Alright, well here we have old “ha Adam”, “eth ha Adam” without a wife. Alright, let’s see what we can do for him. Next verse please. Nineteen:

Gen 2:19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought [them] unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that [was] the name thereof.

Whoa! Now does that NOT kind of square with you? I mean we know from chapter one that God created the birds and the fowls and the animals before he ever created man. And then it says he created man, “ha Adam”, and here He’s creating some more animals and bringing them to Adam to name them. So we have something that doesn’t square, except for one thing. Supposition, my opinion; for Adam, God had then created the animals he would utilize to till the soil. That is to say domestic animals [as opposed to the wild animals he created for the sixth day man]. That’s to say horses … He certainly did not create a mule, and I’m not going into animal husbandry [said with humor] here to explain the about the mule and the horse… he did create the donkey! And he created the chickens, here chick, chick, and so forth –the farm animals, alright, after He created the man [“ha Adam”].

I think it important that you note these things because it’s clearly written in the Word of God and it helps you make the division whereby we see that God does not play favoritism with His people. He’s simply setting aside one through which would come the Savior whereby all races upon following that Savior can have eternal life (period). There was no curse placed on any people. It’s a sin for anyone to teach that certain actions of these Adamic people brought about certain races. God doesn’t deal in unnatural acts. He doesn’t curse innocent people, and don’t believe some preacher that would tell you that. He created every race the way He wanted on the sixth day and it was good.

So okay, here we go. He created Adam; I don’t know why He gave him the animals before He gave him the woman. Now why was that? I have no idea, but He’ll get around to the woman here in a minute. Twenty:

Gen 2:20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field;

Beast of the field means living beings of the world.

H2416

חיchay - khah'ee

From H2421; alive; hence raw (flesh); fresh (plant, water, year), strong; also (as noun, especially in the feminine singular and masculine plural) life (or living thing), whether literally or figuratively: - + age, alive, appetite, (wild) beast, company, congregation, life (-time), live (-ly), living (creature, thing), maintenance, + merry, multitude, + (be) old, quick, raw, running, springing, troop.

but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.

Still all by his lonesome… Twenty-one:

Gen 2:21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

He had surgery, okay. Twenty-two:

Gen 2:22 And the rib,

“rib”… I want you to make a note…

which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

Now, I’ll let you check it out for yourself in the Hebrew, but prime on this word “rib” simply means “the curve”.

H6763

צלעה צלע - tsêlâ‛ tsal‛âh - tsay-law', tsal-aw'

From H6760; a rib (as curved), literally (of the body) or figuratively (of a door, that is, leaf); hence a side, literally (of a person) or figuratively (of an object or the sky, that is, quarter); architecturally a timber (especially floor or ceiling) or plank (single or collectively, that is, a flooring): - beam, board, chamber, corner, leaf, plank, rib, side (chamber).

H6760

צלע - tsâla‛ - tsaw-lah'

A primitive root; probably to curve; used only as denominative from H6763, to limp (as if one sided): - halt.

I do not believe that He literally, I mean man translated it “rib”, it’s “curve”. Now a rib does curve, given. But man has something else that is more in the line of genetics that decides male and female which we have learned through medical technology in the past several years and it’s called DNA. Do you know that DNA has a curve? Have you ever heard of the Helix Curve?

Sometimes you just take a few chromosomes and what-have you here, and away-there and well, presto! We’ve got male and we’ve got female. Basically they’re both the same. But certainly through the curve it is very possible and I’m only saying it is very possible, that this is the correction that God made whereby He created a helpmate for this one, Adam, as the female on the eighth day, bringing forth a womb in this being, this soul, that would enable each of the host [you and I] to be born of woman, innocent, not remembering anything from before, to decide whether we would love God or Satan. Hey, you make your own bed and you make your own life, if it’s Hell then you made it that way.

“Well I didn’t make it that way; it’s my husband’s fault!” Well you chose him honey. You know, he was your choice. You should have left him maybe before he made life Hell for you. You know, I’m not giving anyone any advice, I’m just saying we make our own bed, we make our own hot coals, and we’re the ones that walk in it. So, that’s just the way it is. Now, you can love God and find out hey, we’ve got a pretty good path here… It seems like when we love Him as I’m saying being born innocent through this womb, it made man flesh. And yes, we’re going to find out before we get to chapter six that it kind of grieved God a little bit that He had gone through with this plan. But He already had and the stage was set; and so it continues even unto this day. I truly believe that in my own heart and mind and I wouldn’t want to shake you.

Some yo-yo sent me a letter here in the past week saying, “Revelation 22 where it says any man that changes the word of God…” So you know he said, “This settles it.” Well the poor man is probably a little bit biblically illiterate as far as the Hebrew language is concerned and he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. But it’s not that critical a thing and it doesn’t make that much difference but I like to understand things. I like to understand how God does things. Therefore we can better grasp what it is God would have us do. Knowledge and wisdom are beautiful things.

But, I truly believe this is what God took from Adam and formed the beautiful female body. After all, I could say that, as often I do, that the word curve… Well, He certainly put more curves in the woman’s body, thank God, then He did man’s. Alright, and thank God for it, they’re a lot prettier than we are. The greatest gift God ever gave man. Okay enough said. Verse twenty-three:

Gen 2:23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

And so it is. But it’s good for you to remember who took her out of man, and do we have an article here with this [word man]? Yes. Twenty-four:

Gen 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

That’s very important. That’s why marriage is a union. And God is giving you, even in the book of Genesis chapter two, some of the best marital advice you could ever have in your life. Mommy and daddy really don’t have that much to do with it, alright. You leave them, you become one unit, and you please each other with wisdom. You figure all things out to your satisfaction because in as much as you are one flesh, one flesh should not do anything unto that flesh that offends the other. I’ll say that the right side of the flesh should nothing that offends the left and visa versa. It’s got to get along. You are a “oneness” within each other. Enough said, you understand what I’m saying, they become one flesh. Verse twenty-five to complete the chapter:

Gen 2:25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

They had done nothing to be ashamed of [up to this point]. Sin brings forth shame. Unfortunately in the next lecture we get into where sin does enter. We will be talking about trees. I’m going to give you quite an education in trees, symbolism, and what actually happened in the garden. Up to this point we have completed chapter two and you have not heard the words apple or orange yet. And I got some news for you; you’re not going to hear the word apple in the next lecture, scripturally speaking. That’s not the kind of tree God wants you to be aware of.

So in recapping real quickly; anytime that “adam” is utilized in the Hebrew language with the article it is “the man Adam”. If it is without the article, it is “human” or “mankind”. With both the particle and the article, “eth ha Adam”, it’s emphatically the Adam that God created to till the soil. And to bring forth through Mother Eve (who will be called “the mother of all living” for one reason only; because through Eve’s womb, umbilical chord to umbilical chord) would come Christ, The Messiah, Jeshua. You are either in Him or you’re not living, because you’re not going to be with us long. Eve then becomes the mother of all eternal living because the Savior would come through her. It’s important. That’s why Satan always hassles Eve [and her offspring] and gives her much trouble when the opportunity presents itself.

So without the article, mankind; with the article, specifically Adam; with the particle and article, emphatically the specific Adam and don’t’ let anyone ever take that away from you. All right bless your hearts, you listen a moment won’t you please.

Genesis - Lecture 1, Pastor Arnold Murray

Genesis - Lecture 1 (transcript)

Welcome to this family bible study hour. We’re anxious to get back in our Father’s word. Guess what? We’re going to start a new book this particular session. It’s going to be called the Book of Genesis. Let me teach you that Genesis is a Greek word meaning "creation" and "from the beginning". Actually it started, probably with the Septuagint.

Septuagint: [A Greek translation of the Hebrew Bible made in the 3rd and 2nd centuries B.C. to meet the needs of Greek-speaking Jewish people outside Palestine]

The actual name in the Hebrew is ראשׁית - - B- rê'shîyth - b-ray-sheeth' which means, “In the beginning”, and that’s exactly what it covers, “In the beginning”. Now, as we cover this I want you to think for yourself, “When was the beginning?” That’s very important. We have many channels of thought in this direction of how old the earth is. We have many reports from the scientific community, we have certain from the “unlearned” I will say, religious community, we have some from the religious community that are pretty well right on, and I trust that we fall into that category.

So with that having been said, Genesis has many likenesses even if you would to the Apocalypse; that is to say to the Book of Revelation. Satan fell in the first chapter of Genesis, when we know what the Hebrew is speaking of, and he’s kicked out of heaven in the Book of Revelation in chapter 12. The tree of life is taken away from man in the Book of Genesis; it’s given back in the book of Revelation. The earth became chaotic in the first chapter of the Book of Genesis, and it was rejuvenated or made anew in the Book of Revelation. You could almost teach the Book of Revelation from the Book of Genesis; if you were to use God’s record and understand as we go why God does things. Why did He destroy the first earth age? And that’s why you must be aware of the first earth age and we’re going to document it, probably in this lecture, if we get that far along, whereby you will know and understand there was an earth age before this one. That’s why that science and as well as anyone that has an eye or anyone who has studied archeology or geology can tell you how old this earth is; it’s millions of years old. And God’s word declares it is – there’s no argument there with a learned person from God’s word.

So with that having been said, let’s get right into it, Genesis, in the beginning, chapter one, verse one and it reads:

Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Notice the two, both heaven and earth, and then, “period”. Did it say when? Of course it did not. It simply states, that in the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. You know I want to do something. Who was with God when He accomplished this? You have to find that out in the book of Proverbs and it’s in the eighth chapter of Proverbs, and this is Wisdom speaking. Wisdom was with the Father at that time. We’re going to take a little time. I want to do this whereby you follow along. The eighth Proverb, verse twenty-two, and it reads:

Pro 8:22 The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way,

Again, “in the beginning”

before his works of old.

Even before that works of old which is to say the first earth age; Wisdom naturally was with Him. Why? Because all wisdom flows from God. Verse 23:

Pro 8:23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.

Before the earth was even formed, even in the first earth age, I was with Him. That’s to say wisdom was. Twenty four:

Pro 8:24 When there were no depths,

That means when there was no ocean;

I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.

Wisdom was with the Father. Verse twenty-five:

Pro 8:25 Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:

I was here [Wisdom speaking]. Twenty six:

Pro 8:26 While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.

That means not the least little atom of the world; Wisdom was with Him. Why did I cover those verses? Because I want you to see that many things are mentioned in God’s word concerning this subject and people are simply not aware of them.

Now, do you think that God ever created anything in chaos? Do you think God ever created something bad coming out-the-gate? The answer to that is no. Why? Because wisdom was with Him before the first stone of this world was formed. And wisdom does not agree with chaos. Now, how did chaos come about then? Well let’s read, let’s understand. Verse two: back in Genesis Chapter one, verse two:

Gen 1:2 And the earth was1961 without form,8414 and void;922 and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved

I repeat “moved”

upon the face of the waters.

Now this would be very hard to understand if you didn’t understand a little bit about the Hebrew manuscripts. This would read in the second verse as though God created it void and without form. Now this term in the Hebrew is to'-hoo bo'-hoo

H8414

תּהוּ - tôhû - to'-hoo

From an unused root meaning to lie waste; a desolation (of surface), that is, desert; figuratively a worthless thing; adverbially in vain: - confusion, empty place, without form, nothing, (thing of) nought, vain, vanity, waste, wilderness.

H922

bôhû - bo'-hoo

From an unused root (meaning to be empty); a vacuity, that is, (superficially) an indistinguishable ruin: - emptiness, void.

You with Companion Bibles, it will back me up, or you can take your Strong’s Concordance and check it out. The truth hinges on the second word, which is to say in this verse; …the fourth word I should say, in the English, is the word “was”. That’s not correct actually. I want to pull up if we may, the Hebrew word that is utilized for “was” and you will find that it is:

H1961

היה - hâyâh - haw-yaw'

A primitive root (compare H1933); to exist, that is, be or become, come to pass (always emphatic, and not a mere copula or auxiliary): - beacon, X altogether, be (-come, accomplished, committed, like), break, cause, come (to pass), continue, do, faint, fall, + follow, happen, X have, last, pertain, quit (one-) self, require, X use.

In other words, the world wasn’t created void and without form, it “became” void and without form. When? When Satan rebelled, when a third of God’s children began to follow Satan; there was turmoil and God did destroy that first earth age and brought in this earth age.

So what you’re talking about here as we begin this next verse here in a little bit, (we’re going to do a lot of documenting of what I’m saying first) there was the overthrow of Satan’s power spoken of in Ezekiel 28 as to how he was actually an arch angel that was supposed to cover the mercy seat as it is written in that twenty-eighth chapter of Ezekiel. And he began to take pride within himself, and he began to have the children of God worship him instead of God, because of one thing –pride, pride within self. So it’s important that you know the earth wasn’t made that way it became void and without form. Why? God destroyed that that was. And it is written, and I’ll be most happy to document that for you.

Let’s go if we may to the great prophet Isaiah, Isaiah chapter 45. Let’ read of this and remember what I said, that void, tôhû, is “without form”, absolute chaos, meaning there is zip, nada, nothing. And in that forty-fifth chapter, the eighteenth verse of the great Book of Isaiah it reads, listen carefully:

Isa 45:18 For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it;

He did what? He formed it and he made it.

he1 hath established it, he created it not in vain,8414

Not in tôhû.

he formed3335 it to be inhabited:3427

Not to be destroyed. He formed it, He made it, He created it good. To be inhabited by who? His children.

I am the LORD; and there is none else.

So there is one documentation; that the earth was not created without form. It was not created void. He created it beautiful. This is why from the world that was we can find mammoth in the Tundra (the ice in Alaska) still with buttercups, that near the north pole, in their mouths; lush lagoons, growing even in that part of the world. That’s why we can find palm trees at the poles. That is to say, petrified woods that are left behind, documenting that is was a beautiful time. It was a beautiful place until the earth became void and without form, that is to say, before God destroyed it. That’s not the way He created it. He created it to inhabited, and then it became that way, without form.

Verse nineteen, God continues to speak:

Isa 45:19 I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain:

That is to say tôhû again.

I the LORD speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.

So if God declares things that are right then whey should there be dissention, disputes, all you really have to do is clearly listen to what the Father says. He did not create the earth in a chaotic form, it became that way because of Satan’s rebellion and we’ll document it even further yet.

You know there is one chapter… as a matter of fact let’s go to the New Testament. Let’s see what the New Testament has to say when you have the ability to think for a moment and leave off the traditions of men and let God speak to you. He doesn’t hide the truth. It isn’t hidden; you just read it for yourself if you take a moment to check it out.

In the second book of Peter in chapter three he tells you to be very careful because in the end times there will be people who come along, scoffers, saying, “It’s not going to happen”, that is to say Christ’s return. And then he begins to tell us about the plan of God, of the earth ages, and heaven ages. Not different earths and not different heavens; same earth, same heaven, but different ages. Like the world that was of old which God had to destroy and the remnants of that destruction are obvious. I personally do not understand how someone can take a drive through the Petrified Forest in this great nation and not realize that upheaval from the earth that was when you see those giant pines that turned to rock because of the ages gone by, and many other places that we discover and so forth.

Okay, about the three different earth ages, let’s read about them. Second Peter, chapter three, I want to pick it up in verse five:

2Pe 3:5 For this

Speaking of the scoffers-

they willingly are ignorant of,

Now I didn’t call them ignorant, God did-

that by the word of God

That by what? By some man? No. By the word of God!

the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:

Not created under it, but God creating it whereby the earth could be inhabited. The flood of the overthrow, not Noah’s flood, put Noah’s flood out of your mind. But let’s find out; I don’t’ want you to be ignorant of it, but I want you to find out by God’s word what happened. Verse six:

2Pe 3:6 Whereby the world that then was,

That’s to say the first earth age.

being overflowed with water, perished.622

Do yourself a favor and check this word “perish” out in the Greek and find out that it also means “void and without form”, in a sense, in that it means nothingness.

G622

ἀποìλλυμιapollumi - ap-ol'-loo-mee

From G575 and the base of G3639; to destroy fully (reflexively to perish, or lose), literally or figuratively: - destroy, die, lose, mar, perish.

It doesn’t give leeway for some man out there with a family floating around in a boat or an arch. I mean there wasn’t any pigeons, no birds, no doves… it perished, fine’, period. Void and without form – totally. That’s why, again, scientists can document that this earth is millions of years old. Why? Because it is and God’s word declares it; it was of old. And then you get some bible-thumper who will come along, “My bible says this world is only six thousand years old” – he shows his ignorance concerning the manuscripts and the simple word of God, simply by listening to men’s traditions and their fear of digging into God’s word because of repeating some Salvation-Baptism over-and-over-and-over, regardless of how many times you’ve been saved or how many times you’ve been baptized. That’s all he can do is on-and-on, yackety-yak baptism-salvation… which there’s nothing wrong with that as long as it’s the first time, but after you lead someone to the Father then teach them the word of God whereby they are not ignorant, biblically illiterate of events whereby they cannot with credibility with an educated person in the sciences carry on a conversation about the Word of God. That’s important. So He destroyed it. It’s written of right here in the New Testament. Now verse 7:

2Pe 3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now,

This would be in Peter’s time and yet even unto this day

by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition

There’s that word “perish” again

of ungodly men.

Now who is it that’s going to… perdition means to come to: nothing, nada, to perish. It didn’t say that those who follow God were -ungodly men. The rudiments are the evil things of this world and will be destroyed by fire. What is that fire? If you were to back up two books I believe it is, in the Book of Hebrews, and if you were to read the final verse of chapter twelve, you would find that God is a consuming fire. This is simply to say, if He can speak and nothing became everything, He can also speak and that consuming fire can cause to perish that that is evil. Verse eight, listen carefully beloved:

2Pe 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

In other words, if we say that God replenished or recreated the governments, that’s to say the peoples that area here [on earth], in seven days of God’s time, how long would that be? He said I don’t want you to be ignorant about this. What it does, is people talk about the Lord’s Day, well if a day with Him is a thousand years… well that’s a millennium. Then you know what the millennium is. That is the Lord’s Day that is yet coming. But time-wise seven days with Him is seven thousand years –when you’re figuring it from His standpoint. Alright, listen carefully. Many people will... why do I say that? Because many people, when they find creation where man is obviously… thirteen thousand years ago, they almost lose their faith. Why? Don’t let your ignorance over-ride your donkey. Alright, don’t overload your donkey, I should say, because a little bit of knowledge can be a dangerous thing. So think and use your head. God pleads with you not to be ignorant concerning these things. Verse nine:

2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness;

He’s not forgetful.

but is longsuffering to us-ward,

He has much patients.

not willing that any should perish,

He doesn’t want that to happen to anyone.

but that all should come to repentance.

They won’t though. But at least it is God’s will that they would. He’s given them every opportunity. He’s not looking for someone, some group, or some tribe, to zap. He made salvation available to one and all. Who so ever will. Verse 10:

2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Check out the word “elements”, stoicheion. It means “rudiments”, which means only the evil part will be destroyed. Only the good part is left behind.

G4747

στοιχεῖονstoicheion - stoy-khi'-on

Neuter of a presumed derivative of the base of G4748; something orderly in arrangement, that is, (by implication) a serial (basal, fundamental, initial) constituent (literally), proposition (figuratively): - element, principle, rudiment.

ru·di·ment - roo-duh-muhnt

1.Usually, rudiments.

a. the elements or first principles of a subject: the rudiments of grammar.

b. a mere beginning, first slight appearance, or undeveloped or imperfect form of something: the rudiments of a plan.

2.Biology. an organ or part incompletely developed in size or structure, as one in an embryonic stage, one arrested in growth, or one with no functional activity, as a vestige.

In other words, the Holy Spirit touches you and warms you, but the Holy Spirit will utterly destroy Satan and those that chose to follow him. And that quite frankly brings in the Lord’s Day which is the millennium (a one thousand year period).

Again, let’s analyze. It is not God’s will that anybody go to Hell (perish), that’s to say the lake of fire, Revelation chapter twenty. It’s not His will. He is very patient. And the figure of speech, “a thief in the night” simply means nobody’s going to be expecting it; going back to the fact that people would be saying (scoffers), “It ain’t gonna happen. Everything’s the same as from the beginning.” Well, shaw, they don’t even know when the beginning was. So let them scoff!

But don’t you be ignorant of the fact that of the world that was of old was destroyed by water. There was no olive branch to bring back after that happened if you think Noah’ flood of is what’s being spoken of, it’s not. There was no raven. Of course there were no birds left, and certainly there was no man left as it is written. “As it’s written? Well, where is it written?” In God’s word. Haven’t you ever read it? It’s written very plainly in the great prophet Jeremiah. Let’s go there. Let’s document these things whereby you are brought into knowledge, because God didn’t hide these things under a rock. God didn’t speak from some hidden place to keep it a big secret. It’s here if you wish to absorb it whereby you are not ignorant of how things are. I’m not saying that to put anyone down, but to wake you to the truth and absorb the wisdom that your Father has so graciously given you in this word. And by this word these things were done.

Jeremiah, chapter four, let’s pick it up with verse twenty-two. Now let’s fix the place here. God had been threatening to a degree, and in a sense He was saying, “Hey, you had better take that [My] threat seriously because I did destroy it [the earth] once before. And if you don’t think I will do it again, try me.” Basically that’s the thought our Father has in mind. Verse twenty-two, Jeremiah four:

Jer 4:22 For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children,

That means they are stupid children.

and they have none understanding:

Why? Because they do not have that wisdom nor do they seek it.

they are wise to do evil,

Oh, they know the ways of the world; how to skin their brother before he skins them…

but to do good they have no knowledge.

No, none at all, and even in the so-called houses of God, is the truth taught there, really as to what happened in the beginning? Well I don’t know. You can judge that. You’ve probably been in a few of them. Is it or isn’t it? I’ll let you answer for yourself. Twenty three:

Jer 4:23 I beheld the earth,

Now I want you to look and see through His eyes. Beheld means I looked upon the earth.

and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.

This is after the overthrow. He’s going to tell you how he shook it up, how he destroyed it. Twenty-four:

[Note: if this was speaking of Noah’s flood, there was already light upon the earth and the heavens did have light. So the reference to NO LIGHT, and the term VOID AND WITHOUT FORM, let’s you know the exact time God is referencing]

Jer 4:24 I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly.

In other words, “I put my hand on them and shook it up”. Twenty-five:

Jer 4:25 I beheld,

I looked

and, lo, there was no man,

“I mean, I completely destroyed them from off the earth.” No Noah around in case you’re thinking flood of Noah. Forget it we’re talking about before man was created in the flesh. Well then what is this man? What man of course. There was no man left on earth. That is to say, Sons of God. They were removed. Why? Because it had gone corrupt and God destroyed it.

and all the birds of the heavens were fled.

They were gone, perished, not-a-one. Let me make a statement. You have seen and observed in many places, species of birds found in the mineralized form or fossilized form we’ll call them, that don’t exists anymore. And I assure you there is not one species today from the earth of old that carried over, they all died. God recreated, yes. Were some of them alike? Well I’m sure that he never created anything necessarily bad. It goes bad, but there is a likeness. But we find results of this Katabole, this overthrow in the earth today. Verse twenty-six:

Jer 4:26 I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities…

Whoa! Wait a minute… cities? Yes.

thereof were broken down at the presence of the LORD, and by his fierce anger.

Yes there were cities. “Well, where are they?” Well, lest I go into dimensions… those that know, I will say think along those lines. But in the dimension of spiritual bodies, sometimes it is difficult while were in the flesh body to understand. But there were cities and they were destroyed, nothing left, period. Verse twenty-seven:

Jer 4:27 For thus hath the LORD said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end.

And He didn’t. He did exactly as we’re about to read in this first chapter in the book of Genesis.

So what can we summarize from this? There was very clearly and earth age before this one. That’s why we find fossils and their remains, there’s no getting around it. I could even whip out my mammoth tooth. This is from that age. This is one tooth from a mammoth and I would judge this as about ten million years old. So this particular animal would have perished even before the Katabole. So here you can see this is a grinder that’s how we know it was a mammoth and not a carnivore. These things have to be explained, they’re here. And it turns many young people away from Christianity because there is no explanation. Many of these young people would say show me a dinosaur in God’s Word, it’s here. It’s known in the book of Job as the Behemoth. The Behemoth grazed on the mountain tops not in a riverbed. And he had a tail that was big as a cedar tree. There’s only one of God’s creation that has a tail like that, well a whale does, but a whale doesn’t eat off the top of the mountains –and that’s a dinosaur. In that particular part of Job God is talking about that first earth age, the age in which he had to destroy. And many might say, “Well, why would God destroy something that beautiful?” Because of Satan, and Satan’s fall in as much as Satan as it is written in the book of Revelation in chapter twelve, drew a third of God’s children away from Him, the Elohim, God and His children, or the Sons of God as they are most often called.

God had a choice, He could have destroyed the children and Satan, zoop, right then… but God is long suffering. That means He’s very patient with his children. So rather than destroy them at that time, He chose in his wrath rather to destroy the first earth age, when this earth was pretty good at that time. No winter or summer but just plush all around this earth. People had it real good.

I would bear in mind the documentary we did concerning the angelic footprint. Yes, they were here. That documents it and they didn’t look like a monkey, because it’s a perfect footprint. Well, let’s see if I can whip one of those out here, I may not, yes I can. This wasn’t planned, but… This footprint is set in stone and it’s about, I’d say about ten million, one university person thinks more like fifty million. The high arch of a young foot; this was when they were in another form. And yes, every man was taken from the earth. And some might say, “Man, are you calling the angelic beings men?” Well what do you think “Gabriel” means? In the Hebrew tongue what does the word “Gabriel” mean? Translated fully, rather than transliterated? It means “Man of God”, man, M-A-N, man of God.

So you see there are many things that have past on before us and God’s Word declares them. I guess the question is, are you wise enough to listen to the simplicity in which God teaches them. Like He said, hey, I didn’t hide in some dark place to say this. I made it very plain in the word, “My Word”, God’s Word, that the things were of old and I shook it. I destroyed it. Every last being from off the face of the earth; heaven wasn’t destroyed the earth was. But He destroyed it. And rather than destroying His children… think about it. We serve a God love. What does it take for a parent to kill one of his children? Think about it. It’s a heavy way to go. That’s why God didn’t kill them, the third that were simply deceived by Satan. He rather chose to destroy that earth age and caused man, as were going to study in further lectures, to be flesh also, that each soul would have to pass through this earth age to make his or her mind up, born innocent of woman, whether they would love God or Satan. That’s why you’re here.

You see, contrary to what many people teach, there is one thing God will not do. It’s just not in Him… He’s not going to do it. And that is to say, He’s not going to force you to love Him. Because whether it is you or God, you can’t force anyone to love you. It’s fake. He wants you to love Him from within yourself; you with free will, having the option to love Him or the ways of the world, which is to say Satan. The choice is yours. But I assure you, you have been warned by our Father as to what happens to those that follow the ways of the world. By that I mean love Satan instead of Him. God will not put up with false love. He knows your heart and mind. He knows whether you love Him or not. Love is very important to Him. Do you know why? You know something, it’s important to all of us. We like to be loved. We like to be needed, wanted, and we like to be appreciated. And when we look upon someone who has been as good to us as our Father has you can’t help loving Him –if you come into knowledge and the wisdom of what He has done for us. Even coming down to earth Himself to die on the cross in the form of the Son, the only Begotten, to show you that He didn’t feel that He was too good to do what He has asked you to do. That is to say, live in the flesh.

So we have a wonderful Father. So rather than destroying His children, He destroyed the earth age and brought this one into being which we’ll pick up in the next lecture. Hey, don’t miss it. Listen a moment won’t you please.

Genesis - Lecture 2, Arnold Murray (transcript)

Good day to you, God bless you!

Say, welcome to the Shepherd's Chapel, welcome to this family bible study hour.

The book of Genesis - Genesis being a Greek word meaning "creation" and "generation and of course the same being in the Hebrew barê'shîyth, which is to say "In the beginning", and really that’s more correctly quoted by John even in the New Testament. And of course this Word was from the beginning as we discovered, and of course God had created the heavens and the earth “period”. It didn’t say exactly when but we know from the scripture it was millions of years ago; because after Satan’s rebellion that first earth age became void and without form. And in as much as God had decided it was the time for this earth age, the earth age of flesh man, he began taking that, that was chaotic and void, brought to that condition by Satan himself from his action and reactions recorded in Ezekiel chapter twenty eight, as the king of Tyre.

So we pick up now with the creation. You’re going to note that in almost every verse in the first chapter of Genesis begins with AND. It is a polysyndeton which is to say it is a figure… that doesn’t say… “And” God”, it’s “And” the creator, the marvelous, the almighty God. In other words there’s a lot more said then is written each time this “And” is used; as the Creator and the Spirit to hover over basically the world putting it into the condition that we have it today from that chaotic situation. As God stipulated in that great book Isaiah, “Hey, I didn’t hide this from you”, as we read in chapter twenty-five, verse nineteen continuing from eighteen, which said “I didn’t create it void and without form, it became that way. And I didn’t hide it from you; I didn’t speak it from some dark place”. So it’s there for everybody to recognize and to enjoy whereby there is not a conflict with nature itself that is natural. By that I mean we are able at this time to document how old this earth is in certain aspects. And certainly a bible scholar has no reason to apologize for we can do the same with the word of God in understanding it.

So with that thought in mind, a word of wisdom from our Father. We had covered only verses one and two of chapter one in Genesis. Let’s pick it up with verse three and go with it. And verse three of that Chapter one reads:

Gen 1:3-4 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

Now here in a sense think of the children of light and the children of darkness. Think of the prince of light and the prince of darkness and then understanding will begin to come to you concerning this. Verse five:

Gen 1:5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

Now stop and think for a moment. This is the end of the first day and we don’t have any stars yet. And the moon and the sun won’t be created until the third or the fourth day and yet there was light there. I think that though you’re not going to have it, I’m gong to turn there in the Book of Revelation to help you understand this as we come to the new earth age coming, the third one, and let’s read verse twenty-three of chapter twenty-one of the great Book of Revelation, which is the eternity. We’re already past the millennium, we’re in our new bodies, our eternal bodies, and this is what the Word says concerning the city.

Rev 21:23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.

I think probably you can put that together for yourself. What? God was there. El shâm, the last words in the great book of Ezekiel, or even She·khi·nah /ʃɪˈkinə, -ˈkaɪ-; Seph. Heb. ʃəxiˈnɑ; Ashk. Heb. ʃəˈxi/ Pronunciation Key, which is to say that the Glory of God is present, creating that light.

She·khi·nah /nə, -ˈkaʃɪˈkiɪ-; Seph. Heb. xiˈnʃəɑ; Ashk. Heb. ʃəˈxi/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[shi-kee-nuh, -kahy-; Seph. Heb. shuh-khee-nah; Ashk. Heb. shuh-khee-nuh] the presence of God on earth or a symbol or manifestation of His presence.

And light always gives life. God is the life giver. So it was the Spirit of God that lightened the world and dispatched the darkness at that time. It was not the light we know of today as the sun and the moon. Now sometimes you have to close your flesh eyes to open your spiritual eyes to understand and to grasp what it is our Father wants you to know. So know - compared to His brightness, His glory, that He is in fact the only light we need. All other light is provided by him for us and for the creatures of the world. So, the light that is spoken of here is not what some would think, but is the very presence of God. And I could think of no other term to put it in. This also comes to that point that it can separate children of light, or day from the children of darkness.

t’s important for you to note you could almost teach Revelation from this book, practically, and much of the New Testament because in as much as the children of the day are in the light and the children of the night being in the darkness, being the prince of darkness, Satan, so we see the set-aside ones that are never… in other words, if you are with God He is with you so you never walk in darkness. You’re a child of light. It is for this reason that all prophecies given concerning God’s children are given in days. That’s solar; the solar calendar. And all prophecies given concerning Satan are given in months, which is to say moons, or the night, or darkness. The moon calendar is, frankly, chaotic. It is a mess to keep up with moons. The solar calendar is perfect because it never changes. The spring equinox happens the same year in and year out. It is for that reason that Shepherd’s Chapel goes by the solar calendar in determining Passover even.

Okay, enough said, you get the point. God was with us, light was there, and the light was good. Why? It was our Father. Verse six:

Gen 1:6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.

He said let there be an expansion… now bear in mind, I want to draw from your memory a little bit back in Isaiah chapter forty-five verse eighteen, God created the earth out of the water not in the water. But in that Katabole, that overthrow, Satan’s rebellion, there was a flood that would make Noah’s flood look like a spring shower. I know some will resent that, be that as it may, yet all the destruction, you can still see signs of it in this world even at this time. We now have the North Pole is 90 degrees… 90 miles rather, set over from true North, which is according to where you are on the globe. All pilots have to correct there compasses because of that -anywhere from say 5-to-7 degrees. “East is least and West is best” is the little rhyme that you memorize to remember which way to adjust the compass because of this earth being just a little bit off kilter.

It happened instantly. We have found many proofs of this in remains; there was an instant freeze and the reasons that cause an instant freeze to come to pass and so-forth. We know that it happened. But here, He’s dividing the water back again and He’s not talking about the receding waters of Noah’s flood. Verse seven:

Gen 1:7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.

In other words, He caused the water to recede… He put part of the water back into firmament which means into the heavens or atmosphere. And so it was. If you use your mind for just a moment you might know where much of that water came from that brought that flood to pass. If there was water overhead that filtered… Verse eight:

Gen 1:8 And God called the firmament Heaven.

That is to say that which was above, that expanse…

And the evening and the morning were the second day.

So in a sense He created the 'erets 776, “earth”, and heaven on that second day for this earth age.

H776

ארץ - 'erets - eh'-rets

From an unused root probably meaning to be firm; the earth (at large, or partitively a land): - X common, country, earth, field, ground, land, X nations, way, + wilderness, world.

Verse nine: - Let me rephrase that because that could mislead someone. He brought both the earth and the heaven into the day of this earth age, alright. The earth and heaven were both already here; heaven being naturally according to where ever God is. He didn’t build another earth or create another earth, He simply caused the waters to recede and move upward into the atmosphere whereby land again could become a habitation. Verse nine:

Gen 1:9 And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.

Now with Noah’s flood it took several days and months for the water to recede. Here it was just, “bang”. God spoke, and so it happened. Verse ten:

Gen 1:10 And God called the dry land Earth;

Terra firma, 'erets in the Hebrew tongue.

and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.

Not chaotic. Not disturbed anymore as it was into a nothingness (tôhû - bôhû), as we discussed in verse two. But that is was coming back to that beauty that we have. I wonder when the plates moved and so-forth. You know, we found those animals of African likeness in Nebraska at Ashfall.

National Geographic Article

I mean it’s absolute. There’s no getting around it; rhinoceroses and camels and birds of Africa that died about ten million years ago in Nebraska. So interesting, interesting as we look at how God moved this and how He moved that. Verse eleven:

Gen 1:11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.

In other words the seed to replenish itself was in itself after its kind and that’s the way God liked it. Verse twelve:

Gen 1:12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

God likes things to stay the way that He created them. Man always wants to manipulate. Thirteen:

Gen 1:13 And the evening and the morning were the third day.

Now make note, chronologically, of these events and keep them in order in your mind. On the first day was God’s presence. The second day; grass, herbs, fruit trees… I’m sorry on the second day was the creating of the land itself and the allowing of the water to recede where there were no trees. And God created new grass, seeds trees, and so forth on that third day, and it was good. Fourteen:

Gen 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven

That’s in the atmosphere…

to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

In other words, we were supposed to utilize the sun and the moon as signs and for seasons. With everything on its compass, set with its rotation, whereby many might say, “Well, that’s kind of foolish to talk about seasons and signs”, but no, it isn’t. If you want to be a successful farmer many times it pays to pay attention. Example; if the moon, which is the reason we have a tide from the seas/oceans, if the moon can raise the water level five feet at a high tide and sometimes much more simply by a certain phase of the moon… think about it! Do you realize how many metric tons and acres are involved with that? It would be very difficult for man to understand the force that it would take to raise that water level to that elevation by the pull of the moon. Do you think that if it would raise the water level of the ocean five feet, then what do you think it does on land to the surface water? The subterranean water I should say, water below the surface. Naturally it pulls that water closer to the surface. So yeah, there’s something to it. When you have powers like that which are at play by God’s natural way, naturally it pays to pay attention. Verse fifteen:

Gen 1:15 And let them

That’s those lights

be1 for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

Sixteen:

Gen 1:16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

And there we have that perfect zodiac which is really God’s bible in the stars.

Witness of the Stars

You with Companion bibles, you have an appendix on that:

Companion Bible Appendix 12

Interesting… God’s overall plan is perfect. And, “Well, why would He do that? For doubters, for those that would doubt that when He says that a thing is a thing or a way, it always happens that way. I suppose the question is, how well educated or certain are they? Can they understand the works of God? Seventeen:

Gen 1:17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,

And again, this was natural light from God in God’s own way, as well as the light of God’s presence. Eighteen:

Gen 1:18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.

Nineteen:

Gen 1:19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

So here we come to this fourth day and we see that we have the stars, the sun, the moon, the zodiac and the other signs in the heavens, and one is not to make a religion out of that study –I want to hastened to add, but it is important to know how it applies to God’s Word.

So we have grass, we have herbs, the vegetation is put in place in the earth, we have the sun, the stars, the earth, and we continue. I want you to chronologically keep these in order. Twenty:

Gen 1:20 And God said, Let the waters

I repeat, not the earth

bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life 5315, 2416,

Now this word [life], nephesh, is “soul”. That’s what you call soul. Bring from the water the moving living creature that has a soul…

H5315

נפשׁ - Nephesh - neh'-fesh

From H5314; properly a breathing creature, that is, animal or (abstractly) vitality; used very widely in a literal, accommodated or figurative sense (bodily or mental): - any, appetite, beast, body, breath, creature, X dead (-ly), desire, X [dis-] contented, X fish, ghost, + greedy, he, heart (-y), (hath, X jeopardy of) life (X in jeopardy), lust, man, me, mind, mortality, one, own, person, pleasure, (her-, him-, my-, thy-) self, them (your) -selves, + slay, soul, + tablet, they, thing, (X she) will, X would have it.

H2416

חיchay - khah'ee

From H2421; alive; hence raw (flesh); fresh (plant, water, year), strong; also (as noun, especially in the feminine singular and masculine plural) life (or living thing), whether literally or figuratively: - + age, alive, appetite, (wild) beast, company, congregation, life (-time), live (-ly), living (creature, thing), maintenance, + merry, multitude, + (be) old, quick, raw, running, springing, troop.

and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.

Now I give you, for supposition only, now I repeat this is supposition only, something simply for you to think about. I’m not teaching this [as scripture], it’s for your own thought process. Nephesh, the word soul is translated 472 times as the soul of human beings; 282 times it definitely is animal and 44 for different species (necessarily). It is ironic knowing God’s time, being not ignorant of it, that a thousand years is as one day with God, that when we look at a people, or living thing, let us say, with a soul that was created from the waters of the sea which basically the sea contains the same minerals that clay does. But the people who grow there wheat from the sea, or in water… as a matter of fact Oriental history goes back much, much longer than the history even of the Hebrew. This is well recorded and well documented and again that is strictly supposition. I’m not teaching that [as scriptural], but I feel it is something that as you look around at the world and at history, and at man’s story, that you stop and you think. I would not wish to debate the case, but at least be aware. Verse twenty-one:

Gen 1:21 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

So here we have God creating the fish, and the fouls; you have water birds, you have dry-land birds. You have fish, mammoths, as well as fish of scales, scavengers and so forth. Verse twenty two:

Gen 1:22 And God blessed them,

Did you hear that? And God blessed them.

saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.

In other words, to bring back that which we found that was taken away in the fourth chapter of Jeremiah (Jer 4:23-28) at the overthrow of Satan, a new creation for this earth age.

Gen 1:23 And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

Now we come up to this day [the 5th] and we’ve got grass and we’ve got fish and we’ve got birds and wildlife… but we still don’t have a man. Okay, that’s important that you make note. Animals were created before man; that is to say, at least the animals of the wilderness [and seas/oceans]. Verse twenty-four:

Gen 1:24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.

Twenty-five:

Gen 1:25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

And here we have the earth-bound animals aside from fish and foul, we have cattle, sheep, the bovine, the cow, and camels, and so-on-and-so-forth, (possibly) the wildebeest and so-forth. Twenty-six:

Gen 1:26 And God430 said, Let us make man in our image,

Bullenger’s notes: man. Hebrew 'adam (no Article) = mankind

Now think about that. That’s God speaking. Where does this “our” come from? Who was there? His sons of course, as it is written. His sons, 'ĕlôhîym in the Hebrew tongue means God and His children, His sons, every soul that God created was with Him.

Let us make man in our image, after our likeness

After our likeness, is to make them [into flesh] “Just like we are”. That’s why when you see Jesus Christ, born from above, not born again. That’s an incorrect translation in the third chapter of John.

Joh 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again,509 he cannot see the kingdom of God.

G509

ἀìνωθεν - anōthen - an'-o-then

From G507; from above; by analogy from the first; by implication anew: - from above, again, from the beginning (very first), the top.

That’s why God could say through the mouth of Jesus Christ if you have seen the son you have seen the Father. Why? They are made to look exactly alike. The same as you are made to look exactly as you looked there, okay.

H430

אלהים - 'ĕlôhîym - el-o-heem'

Plural of H433; gods in the ordinary sense; but specifically used (in the plural thus, especially with the article) of the supreme God; occasionally applied by way of deference to magistrates; and sometimes as a superlative: - angels, X exceeding, God (gods) (-dess, -ly), X (very) great, judges, X mighty.

and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea,

They’re going to be fisherman…

and over the fowl of the air,

Hunters…

and over the cattle,

Hunters…

and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Twenty-seven:

Gen 1:27 So God created man in his own image,

Note that the “own’s” in italics, meaning that the “own” was added. Meaning the word “elohiym” means God and His children in each image…

in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

It’s important for you to note in this record of this 6th Day Creation that the male and female were created simultaneously; at the same time, and the fact that they were created rather than formed. That’s important.

So there you have it. To look exactly as they were [in their spiritual bodies before each soul became flesh]. And here we have this creation on the sixth day of both male and female. Twenty-eight:

Gen 1:28 And God blessed them,

Boy did He…

and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish4390 (853) the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Now why this word “replenish”? Actually, if I give you a brand new basket, I mean, it’s never had anything in it, and tell you to replenish it with corn, you’d say, “Well Pastor, there’s never been any corn in it. How could I replenish it?” And you would be correct. Now if it were a basket that had corn in it before, then I could be correct in stating, “replenish the supply of corn in this basket”. So it is with the earth as we read in Jeremiah four, at the first rebellion, God removed, or took, from the earth every last man. They were gone. And remember what His threat was, “You’d better be careful, I did it once before and if you don’t think I’ll do it again, stand by”. So he created these races on the sixth day and He instructed them to replenish the earth, to re-supply it again. The difference, man would be in a flesh body this time rather than an angelic body. Verse twenty-nine: And if this gets a little fast for you just put it on a shelf over there and hang on… you’ll enjoy it anyway, twenty-nine:

Gen 1:29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree,

Underline it in you mind, “every tree”…

in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

That’s oranges, apples, plums, though they’re not specified, you haven’t seen the word “apple” in the scripture… The word “ets”

H6086

עץ - ‛êts - ates

From H6095; a tree (from its firmness); hence wood (plural sticks): - + carpenter, gallows, helve, + pine, plank, staff, stalk, stick, stock, timber, tree, wood.

in the Hebrew tongue meaning “the fruit tree”, you can partake of. No problem. Thirty:

Gen 1:30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life,5315, 2416

Soul, nephesh,

I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

In other words, God gives them hunting, fishing, and rights as fruit gatherers, wild berries, and this sort of thing. Thirty-one, the last verse of chapter one:

Gen 1:31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

It is my contingent, and I do teach it, that when God created the races on that sixth day that he created both man and woman at the same time and populated the earth with the various races. You know, it has not been that many generations back since that six-thousand year period when this took place. I’m talking about the sixth day. And people, following the natural flow of things, stay as they are. We make small environmental changes, that is to say evolution in a sense… I’m not saying evolution in the sense of a change but simply that these marvelous bodies that God created will adapt to temperatures, and so-on-and-so-forth, by the thickening or thinning of the blood and so-forth. The ingenuity that man has in survival…

But God created the races both male and female at the same time and what did He say? He looked on everything and it wasn’t that it was just good, He said… and God beheld and it was very good. So this is why that no one had better apologize for their race in front of this man. Because God created every race the way He wanted it. And it was not just good, it was very good.

Now, I don’t want you to miss the next lecture because we’re going to get into an eighth-day man. That’s why it’s important. It’s important that you chronologically keep in mind that He first brought the stars, the moon, and then the grass, trees, fish, and so-on-and-so-forth, and then on the sixth day brought man on the scene – and woman simultaneously to replenish the earth. But we’re going to find out in the next lecture, He realizes that He’s got hunters and fishers but He doesn’t have a husbandman which means a farmer. So He creates another man, “Ha Adam”. It can only be picked up from the Hebrew manuscripts. I know no one else who teaches as I do from these manuscripts in this manner. That does not bother me. I have studied it long and I have studied it well. And there is no reason for racial tension when one comes to the understanding that God loves all of His children. He looks and it is very good. And God creating kind after kind, they’re special to Him – to do what He created each of us to do.

You know, we get this nonsense; let’s say that the Africans came from Noah’s son Ham because he uncovered his father’s nakedness. There’s nothing natural about that unless you understand what uncovering your father’s nakedness means. In Leviticus 18:8 and Leviticus chapter 20, verse eleven, we’ll find that that is to have intercourse with your mother or your father’s wife. That’s what the term “uncovering your father’s nakedness” means. That’s why they had to get Noah drunk, Ham had to get Noah drunk first. And when Noah passed out he seduced Noah’s wife. That’s why the curse fell on the offspring of that incestuous affair – Cainan. But they were both Adamic offspring from “Ha Adam” as we will find. And they were naturally ruddy complected [or their complexion was ruddy].

H119

אדם - 'âdam - aw-dam'

To show blood (in the face), that is, flush or turn rosy: - be (dyed, made) red (ruddy).

So there is no way that African-Americans could have come from that incestuous affair. It’s an insult to say that they did and a curse was placed upon them. It wasn’t it was Cainan. God never deals in something unnatural such as changing a man’s color. That that is, is the way He created it.

So all races were created on the sixth day with the exception of “Ha Adam” which we’ll discuss in the next lecture, don’t miss it. It’s not really complicated. God did not teach these things in darkness. When you let God’s word flow on its own then clarity comes to the mind of the hearer and the reader. How perfect His word. Don’t miss the next lecture. Listen a moment won’t you please.

Shepherd's Chapel Students MySpace Group

The Shepherd's Chapel Students MySpace Group group provides a place where Christian Bible students that study with the The Shepherd's Chapel can come together and ask questions and share their knowledge about Scripture. This group is for in-depth Christian Bible study. It follows the same study format that the Shepherd's Chapel follows. In addition, students come together to converse, share ideas, provide links to free audio and video downloads of Shepherd's Chapel bible study lectures, blog free Shepherd's Chapel newsletters, and provide links to a wealth of online study tools.

One tool that I found through this group that was especially helpful was a free download of an electronic bible coupled with a Strong's Concordance by:

The translators of the original 1611 version of King James bible included a letter to the reader explaining the challenges of translating the manuscripts into English. As a result they wanted the reader to know that certain words may need more clarification. Now, you and I have a tool to do just that. Here is a link to that preface:

The Companion Bible

(Copied from Wikipedia)
Ethelbert William Bullinger (December 15, 1837 - June 6, 1913) was an ordained Anglican clergyman, Biblical scholar, and dispensationalist theologian.

Life and work

Born in Canterbury, Kent, England, his family traced its lineage back to the noted Swiss reformer Heinrich Bullinger (1504-1557). He was educated at King's College, London, and gained recognition in the field of Biblical languages. He was ordained in the Church of England in 1862. In the great Anglican debate of the Victorian era, he was a Low Churchman rather than High Church sacerdotalist.

E.W. Bullinger was noted broadly for three works: A Critical Lexicon and Concordance to the English and Greek New Testament (1877) ISBN 0-8254-2096-2; for his ground-breaking and exhaustive work on Figures of Speech Used in the Bible (1898) ISBN 0-8010-0559-0; and as the primary editor of The Companion Bible (published in 6 parts, beginning in 1909 ; the entire annotated Bible was published posthumously in 1922) ISBN 0-8254-2177-2. These works and many others remain in print (2007).

In 1881, four years after the publication of the Lexicon and Concordance, Archibald Campbell Tait, Archbishop of Canterbury conferred upon Bullinger a Doctor of Divinity degree, citing Bullinger's "eminent service in the Church in the department of Biblical criticism."

Bullinger's friends included well-known Zionist Dr. Theodore Herzl. This was a personal friendship, but accorded with Bullinger's belief in a Biblical distinction between the Church and the Jewish People.

Trinitarian Bible Society

In 1867, at age 29, Bullinger accepted the office of clerical secretary of the Trinitarian Bible Society (TBS), an office which he exercised, with rare lapses due to illness in his later years, until his death. Accomplishments of TBS during his secretariat include:

Bullinger was also a practiced musician. As part of his support for the Breton Mission, he collected and harmonized several previously untranscribed Breton hymns on his visits to Tremel, Brittany.

Bullinger's TBS workload in his later years was reduced by the assistance of Henry Charles Bowker and Charles Welch. Their assistance enabled him to focus on The Companion Bible in his final years. Bullinger and Ginsburg parted ways, and another edition of Tanakh was published by the British and Foreign Bible Society.

Theology

Bullinger's theology was a form of dispensationalism on which he wrote numerous articles which appeared in his monthly journal Things to Come. Bullinger described dispensations as divine "administrations" or "arrangements" wherein God deals at distinct time periods and with distinct groups of people "on distinct principles, and the doctrine relating to each must be kept distinct." He emphasizes that "Nothing but confusion can arise from reading into one dispensation that which relates to another." {Companion Bible, [1]}

He listed seven "dispensations" in the Bible:

1. The Edenic State (Innocence) - which lasted until the expulsion from Eden.
2. Mankind as a whole (Patriarchal) - from the expulsion from Eden until the giving of the Law to Israel, although in one place Bullinger says that this dispensation ended with the Flood and the confusion of Babel.
3. Israel (under the Law) - ended with the rejection by Israel of the grace of God at the end of Acts.
4. The Church of God (The Secret Dispensation of Grace) - gradual transition from Law to Grace during the Acts period, culminating in the rejection of Israel in Acts 28:24-28. {Companion Bible, Appendix 193}
5. Israel (Judicial) - begins at the "Gathering Together".
6. Mankind as a whole (Millenial or Theocratic) - ends with the destruction of Satan.
7. The Eternal State (Glory) - no end.

His name has become virtually synonymous with Ultra-dispensationalism. Although Bullinger was influenced by Edward Irving [2] and although Bullinger shared with Irving's contemporaries, the Plymouth Brethren such as John Nelson Darby, similar dispensational doctrines, members of the Brethren became some of his most persistent critics.

Bullinger also taught a form of annihilationism.
